A preliminary application for the second phase of The Bay House was filed with the city’s Planning Office earlier this week. The document was filed by Sebago Technics on behalf of Atlas Investment Group, LLC., Boston.
The preliminary application is for a four story structure fronting on Newbury Street, at the westerly corner of Hancock and Newbury Streets. The proposed building is a multi-family structure with 39 units, of w hich seven are townhouse units on the ground level, with 32 flats situated on the upper floors, according to the application submittal letter dated July 16, 2013. There are 42 parking spaces under and behind the building; a dumpster and bicycle racks are also located in this area. Currently, the lands on which the building will be built are two parking lots.
The first phase of The Bay House expects to begin accepting occupants the end of this year and running into February of 2014. One of the two buildings is running slightly behind schedule.
“The process is better than I feared but not as great as I had dreamed. All-in-all, it will benefit the neighborhood in many ways. I hope the deveoper will be willing to sit down with the India Street Neighborhood Association for what could be cooperative and beneficial input,” emailed Hugh Nazor, president of the ISNA.
